Cutting down trees in Minecraft doesn’t work the same way as in real life because Minecraft doesn’t use the same physics. This you’ve probably noticed when you see things such as flaoting blocks. The TreeCapitator mod makes it much easier and more realistic to cut down trees. If you destroy the bottom block of a tree then the remaining blocks of the tree will also be destroyed (including the leaves!).

How does it work?
To cut down a tree you will need a normal axe. Here I found a tree which I want to cut down.
Now walk up to the tree and destroy the bottom block of the tree. Depending on which type of axe you use the time it takes to cut it down will differentiate. But as you can see, once I destroyed the bottom block the rest of the tree’s block was destroyed as well, including the leaves.
It sure makes thing a whole lot easier as you won’t have to break every single block of a tree to remove it from existence. If you wanna be a true Lumber Jack then download this skin!
