Background Music Resource Pack (1.0 Only!)

This is a sound pack (similar to the music as in Minecraft for PC) which is going to be a part of the actual game in one of the next game updates. Mojang recently confirmed it in one of their blog entries. You can read it here.

Found by: andrebrasil
Updated: 3 December, 2016 (supports 1.0, added music for the End (boss battle and music for the final credits))

How does it work?

Once you’ve installed the pack you will be able to enjoy background music similar to the music in Minecraft for PC. There is custom music for creative mode, survival mode and the Nether. It only works for 1.0 alpha (Android only) currently.

Please watch the video down below to see how this works in-game! (I’m sorry about the sound quality. But hopefully you’ll get an idea of what it’s like!)

Installation

Important Copyright Notice: The sound files are owned by Minecraft. If Mojang want this resource pack removed then please contact us here (preferably via Twitter). We decided to share it because it’s most likely going to be a free feature anyways similar as for PC.

Requires: Version 1.0 Alpha (Sign up for the beta here!)

  1. Download Resource .McPack
  2. Close Minecraft PE
  3. Use ES File Explorer to access /games/com.mojang/resource_packs
    1. Find the resource pack folder
    2. Rename it to the following name: vanilla_music
  4. The sounds will start playing the next time you open Minecraft PE

Disclaimer: NO ONE NEEDS THIS PACK ANYMORE UNLESS YOU HAVE A REEAALLY OLD VERSION OF MINECRAFT!!! IF YOU HAVE A VERSION NEW ENOUGH TO GO TO THE STORE/MARKETPLACE, YOU CAN DOWNLOAD IT FOR FREE!!! JUST SEARCH FOR “music” (WITHOUT THE QUOTE SYMBOLS) IN THE MINECRAFT STORE/MARKETPLACE AND IT SHOULD BE THE FIRST RESULT!!! Thank you. 😅

  33. Marvin says:

Is the quality of the sound of the updated version of this is more good? Because the 0.17.0.2 download of this is working fine but I think when you are in game it take up to 5-10 minutes to automatically activate the background sound … PLEASE REPLY…

  34. Ikbenmika says:

There is a part of the text where it says: this is not based on any actual evidence but mojang posted an article witch confirms there is gonna be music: http: //mojang.com/2016/12/pocket-edition-is-5-years-old-have-a-trailer-for-10/ (scroll down for changelog). But awsome pack anyways!

  35. Ed24 says:

Finally…. i will try it on my mcpe 1.0.0.0

  37. torchwhisperer says:

The music files work perfectly as is and following Alex’s suggestion.

However, I couldn’t find a way to implement custom audio. If anyone can work that out, it would be a game changer!

Here is what I tried. Deleting the menu audio files. Renaming personal .wav files to original in game audio files. Didn’t work. I then converted the .wav files to .ogg using MediaConverter app. Renamed as menu1.ogg, menu2.ogg etc in music > menu folder. Didn’t work. My converted files DO play using a .ogg player but for some reason MCPE will not recognize them when renamed.

  38. torchwhisperer says:

@Alex – Thanks! So obvious in retrospect. It’s working on the title screen right away.

@TheGoldenMiner – The music itself is by C418 (you can check out his Band camp page for more amazing free streaming music).
I agree though, thanks to the fellow who discovered this.

  41. Naf_Minecraft_gamerz 2002 says:

I cant download it, even with the secondary link (Mediafire). I dont know why…… I have download this pack from another link last time but I forgot whats the link. Pls editor, fix it, ‘cuz I deleted the file from my storage last time.

  42. LexBlack214 says:

Yea it deffinatly doesn’t work with the 0.17.0.2 update. I think Mojang probably blocked it or changed it to where it reads a different UUID for music. I would check into the game files (witch I currently can’t do) and see what UUID it tryes to detect for the music files, ir if it even tryes to detect them at all.

    • Alex says:

I just said that it works and it’s up to your comment. I also mentioned the fix. No need to look in game config as I already did this and we can’t do anything.

    • Samueltees says:

Uuid is nothing to do with the music, it stands for “Universally unique identifier” and its only there so the game dosent mix it up with the vanilla textures!

  43. Alex says:

I got it working!!! Here is the fix: download .mcpack file, rename it to .zip, extract in /games/resource_packs, open MCPE and enjoy 😉 It looks like the zip or mcpack extensions are ignored.

  44. JacobTDC says:

This pack doesn’t work because the files are in a folder in the pack, when they should be directly in the pack. If you need me to elaborate, e-mail me.

  45. TerrarianFury says:

There is already downloadable music for the game ingame

    • JamonTheMlg says:

      no there isnt

      • TrueTGyt says:

@JasonTheMlg There is! It doesn’t work on some devices like under 6.0.1 in phone… But in tablets, all software versions worked perfectly… It’s a glitch that also has Festive Mashup Pack… Sadly in 1.0.0.0 beta, glitch does not work… If you got music on 0.17.0.2, then you are in luck! 1.0.0.0 still works!!! (No Clickbait)

      • joshgamer says:

        Yes in the store
        For free

  46. Jonathan Wibowo says:

Pls add music for the end

  47. torchwhisperer says:

It’s not working for me. I clicked the mcpack file and got the message that it uploaded to mcpe successfully, but no music plays. I checked for file location after opening the mc.pack. It was copied in com.mojang/resource_pack folder. It was named “resourcepac”. I tried changing the folder name to resource_packs but still no music. I don’t see a resource pack correlated with this add-on in global or world settings of my mcpe.
The only other thing I know of to try is to rewrite the pack manifest uuid’s and change the manifest name.

    Am I missing a step?

    Thanks!
