MCPEDL x CurseForge Reward program

Following a successful beta period, we are now opening the CurseForge reward program for any MCPEDL author who wants to join. By joining the program, you will be rewarded based on the popularity of your project.

Common Questions

What is the Reward Program?
The Reward Program is an initiative that allows authors to earn from the success of their projects, along with a bunch of other awesome benefits, such as:

  • Larger Audience: Your projects will be live on CurseForge and MCPEDL, exposing your content to over 20 million monthly active users!
  • More Creator Tools: Get access to features like version control, file management, and project analytics through the CurseForge Author Console.
  • User Experience Improvements: Instead of 3rd-party links, using the CurseForge Reward Program displays ads that are more reliable, safe, and relevant to users and will improve the experience of your users.
  • and more!

You can read the Reward Program FAQ for further details on the specifics of the Reward Program and how it works.

Can I use 3rd Party Links with the Rewards Program?
No, your 3rd Party Links will be replaced with the file download from CurseForge, and you will earn through the CurseForge Reward Program instead. This will not only improve the experience for you as an author but will allow your users to easily download your files from the same page instead of navigating off-site.

Do I need to update my posts through the MCPEDL dashboard?
No, if you sync your projects, you will use the CurseForge Author Console to manage and update them. This is a much cleaner, improved dashboard that grants you access to a variety of new features, such as better metrics, improved project management, file management, and release control.

How do I join the Reward Program?

1. Read the Reward Program FAQ.

2. Go over the Moderation Guidelines.

3. Connect your CurseForge account to your MCPEDL Profile, by clicking here and scrolling to the "Connected Accounts" section.

4. Upload Your Projects to CurseForge

  • Then select "Minecraft Bedrock" as the game, and go through the project creation flow
  • When you get to the "License" section, make sure that the "Project Distribution" setting is set to allow 3rd project distribution - this MUST be enabled for your projects to show on MCPEDL
  • If your project already exists on MCPEDL, the slug must be the same on both websites. You can edit your slug in the Author Console after creating your project.
    • The project "slug" is the public URL of the project, for example, in https://mcpedl.com/an-example-project and https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft-bedrock/addons/an-example-project, the slug is an-example-project and would sync correctly as it matches on both platforms
    • You can edit your slug after creating your CurseForge project, and it is located under the "General" tab in your Project Editor
  • Finally, due to CurseForge using square thumbnails, you MUST upload an image to your CurseForge project that will be used as the thumbnail on MCPEDL
    • To do this, go to your CurseForge project in your dashboard, and click "Images"
    • Click on "Upload Images" and upload an image you wish to use as your MCPEDL thumbnail (we recommend 720x340px dimensions)
    • Once done, click on the image and change the title to "MCPEDL", it MUST match this otherwise, it will not work
  • And that should be you! It might take a while for your project to be initially approved by our moderation team. Once your first file is approved, your project will sync to MCPEDL, as will any future updates.
  • For modifying your description, we have a few tips:
    • If you wish to use spoiler tags, it's recommended to use this markup (Again, you can achieve this easily using the </> editor: <h2>Spoiler Title</h2><div class="spoiler">spoiler content...</div>
    • If you insert images in your description, you should use relative image sizes, otherwise the images may appear too big on small screen devices. To specify the size, you can use the code icon </> in the editor, and change the width="500px" to width="50%" for example, if you wish the image to take 50% of the screen size. If you remove the height, it will keep the correct aspect ratio of the original image.
    • DO NOT copy the entire MCPEDL description to CurseForge and expect it to transfer flawlessly - CurseForge is a different system and you need to adjust your content to it.

5. Join the Reward Program

  • Now that you're all setup on CurseForge, you can enter the CurseForge Reward Program to earn from your projects!
  • Firstly, enable 2FA on your CurseForge account by visiting your Settings
  • Then, click on the "I want to join the Author Rewards Program" toggle button to view the terms and enrol in the program
  • And that's you! You will now start to earn reward points from your projects on CurseForge and MCPEDL

6. Final Checks

  • Once your first file has been approved on CurseForge, you should check that your project has synced over to MCPEDL
  • To do so, go to your MCPEDL project post, and see if there is a note saying "Published on CurseForge" next to the date of your project
    • If this does not appear, then please follow the instructions again and make sure you followed all necessary steps (i.e. does the slug match? has the project been approved? is your account linked?)
