Fire Arrows Addon

This addon makes it so that any type of arrow shot by a player will start a fire on the block it lands on. This is not to be confused with the Flame Enchantment which affects mobs and TNT.

Any type of arrow shot by a player either with a bow or crossbow will start a fire on the block it lands on. A fire will only start however if the arrow lands on the unobstructed face of the block. If a block has any of the following on it, a fire will not start:

  • Vines
  • A Flower
  • Grass
  • A Sign
  • Etc.

It should also be noted that the arrow will not light a mob on fire unless it specifically lands on the block at the feet of the mob, in which a fire will be lit. If you shoot an arrow at a mob it will still damage the mob for standard arrow damage, however, it will also pass through the mob lighting any block that meets the previously listed requirements on fire, while also allowing you to recover the arrow.

The functionality of this pack can be disabled with the command:

/gamerule mobgriefing false

This addon should work with most versions of minecraft, although I cannot guarantee any backwards compatibility as this addon was tested in version v1.12.0. If you encounter any issues or find any bugs, please let me know on my Twitter @sgt_sauris. Speaking of my Twitter, if you have any recommendations/ideas for either this addon, other addons, or future addons, letting me know there is the best way to get in touch with me. Feel free to check out my YouTube as well.

Enjoy!

    Heres the thing,
You can put down a command block on repeat and put the following command:
    /execute @e[type=Arrow] ~ ~ ~ setblock ~ ~ ~ fire
    So its practically useless…

These days, you are right. However, when I initially released this back in 2016 that was not a possibility. Also, I updated it just for old times sake πŸ™‚

Also, a limitation (or feature, depending how you look at it) to your method is that if you were to fire an arrow level with other blocks on the same y-axis, it would light every block it flew over on fire. This addon makes it so only the block the arrow lands on lights on fire. Not to mention the fact that your solution would allow arrows shot by skeletons to light fires as well, and that thought scares me.

Huh. Practically useless. We already have flame, so why (other than for crossbows)? I would hate to rate 1 star on a useless Addon.

I recommend you check out this website, as I think you need some practice: https://www.k5learning.com/reading-comprehension-worksheets/fifth-grade-5.

To quote the text that I typed in the brief description of the addon:

“This addon makes it so that any type of arrow shot by a player will start a fire on the block it lands on. This is not to be confused with the Flame Enchantment which affects mobs and TNT.”

The flame enchantment does not start an actual fire on the block it lands on, it can ignite TNT and light mobs on fire. This addon makes it so the arrow lights an ACTUAL fire on the block it lands on.

Thank you for your feedback though! Have a good one!

    Is it work on V1.4.4.0?

  4. Sgt_Sauris says:

I just tested it for the beta version 1.2.0.22 and it worked fine. Arrows are a bit “heavy” but this file still works fine.

  5. Cynthia says:

The mod was okay, but it kept setting random things on fire. I did have a lot of fun setting creepers on fire though!

  8. Ziya okut says:

No offense but we can make fire arrows in mcpe:/

    • Sgt_Sauris says:

This add-on allows arrows to light any block they land on, on fire. Fire arrows currently only put fire on entities and light TNT. This allows any block to create fire on hit.

Amazing I love it but can you plz do a PokΓ©mon addon the map and the texture and it can be a adventure like in all PokΓ©mon games plz do that

  17. Andray says:

    We have the flame enchantment

    • Editor says:

Oh, I didn’t know that. I haven’t really used the enchantments a lot in Minecraft to be honest. Thanks for the info though!

This addon makes all arrows burn though.

      • RealBlueNinja says:

The flame enchanted bow only makes the arrow cause entities to burn and set TNT on fire. This add-on makes it so the block it hits lights on fire too. Plus this would make it so you don’t need to enchant the bow to get flaming arrows

      • Swoopy_1 says:

But isn’t that overpowered, as you won’t have to build dispensers with fire charges inside or anything? And the Flame enchantment will become useless.

    • Space_Duck147 says:

We do, but that doesn’t set blocks on fire.
