The Skills Mod adds a new use for experience points. After you’ve obtained enough experience you can use these points for upgrading skills. The skills are mostly related to battle and survival and will automatically add different types of potion effects when a certain thing happens. For example, the first level of the Rage skill adds a 10% chance of entering rage mode (Haste, Strength II) for a few seconds.
How does it work?
Once you’ve entered a world some of the interface will have changed. On the right side of the screen there is a small GUI (graphical user interface) displaying your experience statistics and also a button for upgrading your skills. In the bottom right corner of the screen there is a button which can be used for enabling and disabling this GUI.
To gain experience simply kill mobs. Once you’ve gained enough skill points you can use those for upgrading your skills. Currently there are four types of skills:
- Battle Healing: Regenerates x heart(s) every x seconds
- Rage: Has a x% chance to enter rage mode
- Heal: Regenerates x heart(s) when used. Cooldown: x seconds
- Bash: Inflicts x heart(s) on target. Cooldown: x seconds
Each skill can be upgraded several times. That’s why we decided to use an “x” for the duration/damage amount/healing amount as the value for each skill as it changes depending on your current skill level.
In this example I decided to upgrade Rage to skill level 1. Now every time I attack an enemy I’ve got a 10% chance to enter rage mode which enables two potion effect for a few seconds:
