Minecraft Manhunt

The YouTuber known as Dream invented a game called Minecraft Manhunt. But, that's only for the Java version of Minecraft. How it works is, there are 2 players, one is is trying to speed run and beat Minecraft as quick as possible, while the other is trying to stop them and kill them at all times. But, the catch is that the hunter gets a compass that is always pointing wherever the speed runner is. I made it for Bedrock.

I tried this with one of my friends, my mate put the command in for him being the runner. But it gave both of us a compass, my compass was pointing to me and his compass was pointing to him, please explain why this is the case. I also typed the command into the command block for setup. Do I need the runner to drop the compass (as a suggestion?
