Hey so I didn't tested it yet but seems good!
Idk if it works in chat but if not you can set an script called world.beforeEvents to change the name on chat before the message is sent! I would join the discord but the link is broken...
First of all, thank you for the work on this project — the features run smoothly, and I really appreciate that nametags persist when players leave and rejoin a world or Realm. That part works perfectly and has been a big help in keeping things organized.
I did want to highlight two areas that could use some improvement:
Command Block Permissions:
In the current version, command blocks are unable to use /nametag or /nametag:nametag. However, there is a fix, as i managed to get into the file and do some editing, I use command blocks to automatically assign deity or role-based prefixes depending on player tags. For example:
nametag set @a[tag="TAGNAME"] "§r[§?MODERATOR§r] @s"
This helps format names such as turning "TomosBachUK" into "[MODERATOR] TomosBachUK".
Currently, this isn’t possible because the command blocks don’t have access to the permission level for nametag. It would be great if this could be enabled so Realms and servers can automate role-based name formatting.
Custom Chat Nicknames:
It seems the ability to display the nickname in chat is no longer working. I tried multiple approaches and scripting variations but couldn’t get it functioning again. Having custom names show in chat is a really helpful feature for roleplay-focused Realms like mine, so I’d love to see this restored if possible.
Overall:
Everything else works very well — especially the persistence of nametags — and the mod/pack has been extremely helpful for managing player identity and roles. If these two areas could be reviewed, it would make the system even more powerful for Realm owners and community servers.
Thanks again for all your hard work — this project is genuinely appreciated!
The bug with command blocks was because of an bug from a older Minecraft version, but I think I can fix that now.
The pack doesn't change the message in the chat, because that would require the Beta-API, which isn't a option for everyone and the pack needs updates more frequent. I can make a pack that changes the message in a chat.
Hey, thanks for responding. that makes sense about the command block bug coming from an older version. I’m glad to hear it should be fixable!
Regarding the chat messages: I totally understand why you avoided the Beta API for the main pack. I would definitely be interested in the optional pack that changes the message in chat. If you’re able to create that separate version, I’d really appreciate it it would be super helpful.
Hi I really love this mod but it is no longer working after the new update, if you could please update it that would be amazing :) me and my friends love this addon
Thanks!
Hi, just wanted to let you know that your mod is no longer working in 1.20, and I was wondering if you could work on that. My friends and I really loved mod on my server.
Had this on a realm and for some reason players names will randomly switch back, could be from other add-ons, just wanted to check if it's a normal issue?
