In this mod, can you get the original redstone lamp color to light up without power as well?

Yes. Just turn on experimental gameplay, and add on the addon.

I'm kind of sad that the light emitting from he lamp isn't colored, but overall it's a good add on.

To the people having trouble with the addon: The addon doesn't work because you have to use experimental gameplay

I would rate 5 stars, but I'm having a similar problem with the Hidden Lights mod, that being the mod isn't working for me. Just like that other mod, this mod shows up just fine in the menus, but nothing from the mod shows up in the worlds. Does anyone know what's going on?
