Quick question: Is the scarecrow an entity or a block that you can walk through? And what is the purpose?

It's a block where you can walk through, it's used to scare crows depending on the variant, glow ones can scare captain crows wich aren't scared from normal scarecrows, crows will spawn near to crops and will try to eat them, that's why you need a scarecrow
