to dry de leaves you have to put them in a campfire and to make hydrogen you need the education edition

Why is it that the seeds only produce a 2d version of the plant. How do I get the 3d version in Survival mode. Also could you make it grow on normal grass and dirt and maybe even make it possible to find the plants growing naturally around the world?
