I used this on a Realm for about a month, and the scoreboard data grew so large (~175K entries and 100MB) that console players couldn't even join the Realm any more. It was so much data that I couldn't even use Universal Minecraft Tool to load the scoreboard data; the author of the tool actually had to help out by adding a new feature to allow deleting items directly from the LevelDB search just so I could clear out the entire scoreboard! (MASSIVE props to him! Definitely support him if you can!)

For it to work on singeplayer, when you are in singeplayer world, pause the game, go to settings then game tab and where it says "Player Permission when joining from invite" change that to Operator then unpause and you should have permissions. after then you can go back and change back to member
I would definitely recommend as soon as the issue with not being able to use the command on the realm is fixed.
