My one thought is why don't you set the texture of the entity to the 'textures/blocks/' texture. This could make it were people who are using a texture pack doesn't have to change anything because the addon gets the changed block texture.

I recommend dont download it makes you install a program exe which is kinda suspisions istead a addon and i intall it but i cant test it by my antivirus so dont download if you dont want to have problems
