Bug Fixes

  • Extended safety measures to prevent players from dying during the ritual ending.
  • Fixed the /guide command permission level being set above server operator permissions.
  • Improved Void Village generation on low-end devices by handling unloaded chunks more reliably.

Changes

  • Added doors to the locations library to improve performance.
  • Added an additional cooldown timer to the Foregone after each chase to avoid overexposure.
  • Added compatibility for version 1.26.20.
  • Time skip now properly ignores eternal babies and no longer causes them to grow.
  • Added subtitles for custom sounds.
  • Updated sound references to match the new version sound IDs.
  • Custom entities now use their own dedicated sound subtitles.

Creator Notes:

This is a smaller maintenance focused update to keep the addon up to date.

The main goal was to ensure the new subtitle system introduced in the previous update was fully integrated. A good amount of work also went into stability improvements and compatibility adjustments behind the scenes.

As a mod enthusiast and a lover of your incredible mod, I ask that you be careful with the "added entities." A good number of people request this, and I'm afraid it might end up ruining the mod, turning it into a "generic" mod, or at least that's the impression it might give with so many entities. The entities in your own mod are already amazing, but I'm not against adding anything new. It's just a warning and a concern of mine, because I was quite shaken when the original Cave Dweller mod was dragged down with several other copies that came out because they had VERY similar entities, some even a copy-paste. Have a good day Kolveman and take care of that work of art that you painted with so much love and care.
1
Appreciated the concern, I totally agree with you, so you mentioning this is reassuring on my original take.

I'm indeed planning to add a couple entities, however nothing like a dweller or main entitiy. Always inconspicuous and mysterious. Inspiration comes to me from time to time and when I got this idea it got me really excited because it ticked all the constraint marks I have for the foreboding. Anyway, they are still in the oven and I will see how they behave in the playtest. I'm handling this with a lot of thought.

MAKE IT SUPPORT VERSION 1.21.132 PLEASEEE

Played this on a realm with two of my friends and it was an ABSOLUTE blast. The build up is done so well, and even though we played together which usually takes away creep factor it still genuinely had us paranoid and looking over our shoulders.
This is actually such a one of a kind horror mod too, I love the unconventional approach taken, it was much creepier and much more memorable than most things on the bedrock market right now.
It's really hard to pick a specific event that was my favorite, they were all super well done, but if I had to it's gotta be the one I have lovingly nicknamed "The Slaughter"
genuinely gave me chills.
Only thing I didn't like about the mod were the near constant thunderstorms. They were rather annoying to deal with and I found them more corny than scary. But beyond that perfection. love it. thank you for making such a wonderful horror mod ^^

I haven't played this yet, but i kinda like what im seeing in the description lol would try it out soon
1
is this based on anything to me it looks like the broken script by the pictures
1
It's a bedrock original, my main inspiration was the time I first played Minecraft back in 2011. I had mostly forgotten about it but watching "The Last Beta Player" movie from Mongster brought back all the memories, and is what moved me to make this addon.

So if anything, its based in the atmosphere from the early versions. I think the broken script is similarly based on that (I have never played it so I really don't know).
1
Mr Kolveman,
I haven't played the original, but I've played Bedrock versions and it's really good. You might have Java, and therefore the opportunity to play it; it has a great lore...In fact, you might be inspired by Broken Script... I'll just say that if you play it, add a reference to Integrity.
Thanks

Hello Mr Kolveman,
Hey, I have a few quick questions about the new update (I read the changelog), first: WHAT DO YOU MEAN RITUAL!???? HOW DO YOU DO THAT!????
Okay, calming down, I have another one,
HOW COOLDOWN TO THE FOREGONE!???????? OVEREXPOSURE!??????? 💀💀💀💀💀💀 Finally, one last question: will you be adding more entities? That would be great.
Ohhh, and I have a question about something that I don't know if it's a bug, but... When I go to the Nether I see the Foreshadows without needing crystal.
Is that a bug?
Thanks (I hope he replies soon)
1
Yeah, end ritual, has been in the addon since version 1.1.0. I wont disclose how to reach it though, I like hiding stuff.

The foregone is not meant as the main entity and also not what the whole project is about, so the more it's around the more and inconvenience it becomes. I added an extra timer after any close encounter where the foregone will go to rest/recover energies, before coming back.

Yeah, the foreshadows at the nether are a bug, I really don't know how they got there in the first place, they weren't allow to cross portals. I will get it attended in the next update.

For if I'm planning more entities?. Yes, I have one already conceptualized that I really want to add, I'm working on it.

By the way, you can send me mails to [email protected] I can answer your questions more openly there.
1
Thanks you.

make it support 26.3
1
Done.

But in any case this is a non-experimental addon, it will work with new versions out of the box. The versioning system is more for what is the minimum version you need.

Do I need to turn on experiments for this to work?
1
You do not need experiments for it.

Hello Mr Kolveman,
Today I want to ask you a couple of things. First, can kill the Foregone?
Another thing, what are the strange numbers that appear above the players' nametags?
By the way, I wanted to mention that once they sent me to the Village of the Void, when I returned I was still in adventure mode. Only when I returned to the Void Village and from there to the Overworld was adventure mode removed, but seriously, they should fix that bug, please.
Last thing, When will a new update be added to Foreboding? Thanks
1
The foregone is not to be kill. However, I'm still working on it for the next update and I'm planning in additional ways to confront it. So far, there is only one way to avoid it besides the menu toggle (I'm not disclosing it).

The numbers have a meaning indeed (but not always), I'm not telling what though. There is a kind of joy for those who figure it out.

I will add additional failsafes for the adventure mode.

I was planning on releasing a bug and captions compatibility update last week, though time fell short so, maybe next weekend.

Hello Mr Kolveman,
I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but could it be referring to... When you go to the End and return, you appear in the temple and then the Foregone spawns there , is that right?
Well, that's what happens to me, but also, I don't know if it's some kind of bug, but when I go to the Nether I see the Foreshadows without needing crystal. Is that a bug?
In fact, I wanted to suggest something to you: that you continue adding more entities; that would be very good.
By the way, one last thing, where do you live? I ask because I'm sure you and I are in a different time zone.
Thanks
1
Mr. Kolveman,
Today I was playing Foreboding when... I FOUND HIM!!!! I found the FOREGONE, I haven't touched him yet but I have a couple of questions, if I disconnect and he's more or less nearby, When I log on, will he be in the same block as me? I hope not, haha. One more thing, I would like to suggest that in the settings menu, the option to enable or disable the disappearance of hostile mobs could be enabled or disabled. Last thing, I'd also like to suggest a chat feature with an entity, like Foregone, where you have to say "Tilín" to speak.
Thanks.
1
It may be there when you log back or it may not: it all depends in the real time inbetween as it may note you wont be logging back. By the way I don't know if you already figured this out, but I wouldn't trust the pause menu.

As for your suggestions: sure I can add a toggle option for the hostile mob vanishing event. Though having a chat feature is something still not possible in bedrock, however, if it gets added I already have some ideas on how to use it.

Hello Mr. Kolveman,
I was playing Foreboding again today, but I went to sleep in my bed and was teleported to the End, to a village that was literally in the void. I suppose it's the Void Village, right? But I want to know how to get out without losing my stuff. Thanks.
1
Logging off your world and entering again should place you back at your bed.
1
THANK YOU SO MUCH, YOU JUST SAVED MY WORLD!
By the way, I discovered your YouTube channel and left a comment on one of the shorts...
Oh, and you have a new subscriber! :)
1
Mr Kolveman,
You told me that if I logged out and logged back into my world, I would return to my bed; I did that, however it not works... Now I've lost my things and have to go back again, well, apart from that, a friend of mine found the Foregone and That makes me wonder a couple of thingsFor example, what happens if Foregone touches you? Also, what's his favorite food? hahaha
Thanks you.

Mmm... Thats a major bug, extremely sorry about that I do my testings and I run the events enough times before marking it as working as intended.

Its just that as the addon grow in complexity some sections may break and It takes some time before I discover the bug (there are a lot of events to playtest). I appreciate the feedback as I can fix it once I'm aware of it.

As an apology I will let you know of a little easter egg, try throwing carrots to the ground when the fog is thick, something may happen but not always.

For the foregone I will keep those answers to me for now. I'm actually still working on it and was planning to expand its behavior and qualities next update.
1
Hello Mr. Kolveman, I'm just stopping by to tell you that I recently played your addon again, and once again it's proven to be vanilla, as a friend of mine who plays a lot of addons actually thought something strange was going on. Also, even though I'd played it before, this experience scared me again, and I want to congratulate you on this GREAT ADDON, but I'm left with a few questions. First, why cows? What do cows have to do with Foreboding? Also, I have a more important question: how can I find Foregone? And if you can, could you describe what he looks like? So I don't confuse him with something else, haha... Thank you very much.
1
Good to hear the foreboding kept its touch even in a second playthrough.

The cow is the harbinger. It reacts to your arrival, for reasons I will not write.

As for the Foregone, it exists and moves in your world even when it’s closed. You don’t need to look for it, it’s already looking for you. The more you play, the closer it gets.

You will know when it finds you.

Hi, it's me again. I have one, or maybe a few, questions. When I exit the game and the mod leaves the game running, Do I miss out on events that could be happening at the same time while I'm out of the game? If I reduce the time it takes for events to happen, will I lose some events because the time is reduced? Is it possible that I can see all the events, and are there events that require me to meet certain conditions for them to happen? Like going somewhere, doing something, etc. I think those are the questions I have in mind for now. Also, I should mention that I love this mod; it's my favorite and the best. Your work on it is simply incredible. Also, there's something I'm not sure is very relevant, but the last time I played, the non-hostile mobs like cows, pigs, etc., followed me trembling quite a bit, It's like they can't walk in a straight line diagonally or something like that. That's the only thing I think might be a bug in the mod, or maybe it's a problem with the game itself. Sorry for the long text.
1
Answering all your questions:

*The mod detects when you are afk or there is no one around and stops the counter. Events will still happen when you are afk but only the minor events.
*If you reduce the total time you wont be missing any events, its just you are going to experience less events (due to there being less time) unless you pump up the chance modifier.
*I have an events list with its conditionals but I'm including that in a small book along a little story I will be selling as a token in the patreon store. I mean, I wanted to at least have a token of appreciation for the people that donates.
*For the mobs following that's indeed part of the mod, that is a long running event for the second half of the 5th chapter. The trembling is a byproduct of the technique I use to make them follow the players without having to modify the vanilla behavior of the mob.

You are almost all the way through with the foreboding, hope you had a great time with it.
1
I have a few specific questions:

Does the addon work on aternos servers?

How long are the chapters? For example, how long does a 20-hour chapter last? Same question for 10-hour and 30-hour chapters.

And last question, if I start with chapter 3, will I skip the hours of the previous chapters or will their hours be combined with chapter 3?
1
Sure mate, answering your specifics:

Base duration is 20 hours: Chapter 2 last 3 hours. Chapter 3 last 8 hours. Chapter 4 last 5 hours. Chapter 5 last 4 hours.

The chapter 1 is the default state before the foreboding gets triggered and chapter 6 is the restauration state after the foreboding ends. Thus they have no duration and change based in a random chance or triggers.

The modifier of 10 hours goes as follows:
Chapter 2 last 1 hours. Chapter 3 last 3 hours. Chapter 4 last 3 hours. Chapter 5 last 3 hours.

15 hours: Chapter 2 last 1.5 hours. Chapter 3 last 4.5 hours. Chapter 4 last 5 hours. Chapter 5 last 4 hours.

25 hours: Chapter 2 last 3 hours. Chapter 3 last 8 hours. Chapter 4 last 7 hours. Chapter 5 last 7 hours.

30 hours: Chapter 2 last 3 hours. Chapter 3 last 8 hours. Chapter 4 last 8 hours. Chapter 5 last 11 hours.

By starting at chapter 3 you would have skipped chapter 2 hours. So you would be effectively reducing the total duration of the events.

And yes, it should work in aeternos.
1
Last question, are there events in the Nether? I've been there for a while and never noticed anything different, nor did I notice if the fog there changes or if it's the same.
1
There are events for the nether and end but really few, from the bottom of my mind I can only remember a couple.

Most events are aimed towards the overworld, and if everybody in the server is in the nether or the end, the "timer" of the foreboding wont move forward.

Fog changes are only for the overworld.
1
I just came here to let you know to check out the Minecraft updates; maybe Minecraft Bedrock will get customizable dimensions. I think it's interesting for you to be aware of this because it could open up a range of new ideas for your addon, like going to a dimension that looks like the normal world but is an empty world with fog covering almost everything, where you would stay for a few minutes and then return. Lots of interesting possibilities.

Yeah I saw that update, I hope it gets further developed to also include World Gen, One can only wish.

In any case, I already added two hidden "dimensions" into the addon, (they are obviously not dimensions but I made them in a way to work like a sort of one with the tools at my dispossal).

If you want a glimpse search for "The Foreboding project rare dimension" in youtube.

I'm not saying more, secrect secret, haha.
1
Wow, all that was from the Project Foreboarding addon?
1
The void place yes, all there (and all that happens there) is from the foreboding project.

-dev update 3/24-
Hi, just letting you guys know in case there is anybody wondering.

I'm working in the next update, this drops is bringing a good chunk of new content that needs to be integrated: the subtitles, and the sulfur cave biome.

I'm not giving dates as this time of the year is really busy for me, but I will be working on this over the weekends.
