Some History on Chester: Chester the Cheetah made his debut in 1986, when Frito-Lay was looking for a character to represent their brand. The company wanted a mascot that would appeal to both children and adults, and embody the irresistibly cheesy and crunchy nature of their product. The advertising agency, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, came up with the idea of a suave and sly cheetah as the perfect embodiment of the snack's qualities.
