If your having trouble activating it make sure your in survival, sneaking, and interact with a pickaxe while facing away from a block.

That link that adds the addon dose it work in 1.21 bc it says 1.20.8

Yes it does. I just tested it. You either did not turn it on Sneak + Interact while looking away from blocks or it's something you did.
